Oko Wikcemna Zaptan

Monday, Jan 31 to Sunday, Feb 6, 2011: high 45, low -15

This Thursday afternoon the sun was shining and the temperature reached into the 30s. Last night the thermometer bottomed out at 15 degrees below zero. Noticed this tree in the draw south of the house. The bark on the undersides of the dead branches must have been eaten by some animal. Perhaps a deer? But where the dead branches lean onto the tree appear to be too far off the ground for deer to reach. As i moved closer to inspect the branches, a jack rabbit jumped out of the grass clump under the branches. In the picture below you can see the fur evidence of his presence.
