A small herd of deer attentive, yet interestingly not typically flighty, this Saturday afternoon, blending in with the browns and burnt siennas of the late winter grasses. This is the month of “half days,” when it can blow snow in the morning, as it did today, and be sunny in the afternoon. The landscape shifting from brown with patches of white snow on the shadowed north-facing slopes, to one of being entirely white covered with snow in a matter of hours. Then nearly as quickly the warm winds and sunshine melting the snow until it is almost all gone.
