Two bright breasted meadowlarks singing their melodious song last year on the 3rd of April at 4:06 pm. Nine minutes later, the sky was rapidly darkening as clouds quickly moved in.
Eleven minutes later, at 4:26 pm, a storm is nearly upon us as dark ominous clouds twirl about overhead.
Then suddenly it was here. As the hail blew down at 4:36, covering the ground in white, the late afternoon sun was already poking through the clouds.
Two minutes later, at 4:38 pm, the hail and clouds were gone, and the sun was rapidly melting the hail. Thirty-two minutes from bird song to sun shine. This is why Grandpa Bowman used to say that March and April were months of half days; meaning that the weather could change drastically twice a day. Clearly, it can happen a lot faster than that.
Last night around 10 pm a storm blew in with hail, covering the ground in white, then it rained which melted away the hail in minutes.
