Monday, Feb 27 to Sunday, Mar 4, 2012: high 45, low 7
This new Wingsprings year began Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, but due to cloudy eastern skies all three mornings i could not verify which date was when the sun rose on the Wingsprings west-east axis. Wednesday morning did arrive with lots of snow, as can be seen in the photo above. There was so much wind with the overnight snow that long deep drifts were created that had large areas of windswept spaces with little snow between them. The high winds and cold temperatures create fascinating sharply defined patterns in the snow. The sun and warmer temps, which arrived mid-morning Wednesday and continued the rest of the week, quickly softens the pattern edges.
