Weather-wise today was one of those days best summed up with the phrase, “its a good day to be alive.” The temperature reached 70 degrees, the high for this week. There were no clouds, and just a hint of a breeze. The carapace above belongs to the snapping turtle that died in late April (see Oko 9, 2013). It is steadily disintegrating into the earth beside the pond where it probably spent much of its life. The picture below illustrates this proximity. The pond beyond is covered in what might be a species of water lily.
