Friday evening's forecast was for severe rainstorms, but fortunately they did not materialize. The photo above was made shortly after 8 pm Friday, looking west northwest after a rain shower had blown through. Moisture from the shower measured about half an inch. Afterwards, the color of the sky was an ethereal orangish-yellow. In the center of the photo, barely visible on the horizon line, is the Butte. To the right of it, the setting sun is tracking southward; it will set behind the Butte on August 30, plus or minus a day.
