Wednesday afternoon i mowed the trails and around the facilities for the first time this year. This picture doesn’t capture it clearly, but the sanctuary is encouraging the growth of an abundance of vegetation, from grasses to trees. It is remarkable to see the difference. On the other hand, it has been nearly fourteen years since we fenced the 64-acre plot to keep cattle out. The result is a “natural library” that parallels the “documentary library” in the headquarters building for being a repository of knowledge and information. The contents of the documentary library are legible whereas the contents of this natural library are only slowly becoming cipherable.
